Regenerative Construction

REGENERATIVE CONSTRUCTION

Loam is a mixture of sand, silt (powdered quartz) and clay, and is one of the oldest building materials known to man.

It is an important construction material in many cultures. While it had been somewhat forgotten in the modern age, it is currently being rediscovered on a global scale. Building with loam is ecologically sensible and economically affordable.

As a result, the Ricola Foundation encourages research into the (industrial) use of loam, as well as the exploration and dissemination of the architectural possibilities connected with this material.

For example, we offered financial support to the cultural magazine “Du” for its issue on loam construction.
